The Unit perform the following activities: - 

1. Coordinate and monitor research activities at JKCI and ensure dissemination of research findings;
2. Develop the Institute research guidelines and protocols and oversee implementation;
3. Coordinate and monitor consultancy service ensure standards are in place for staffs involved in consultancy services;
4. Encourage and stimulate staff to conduct researches;
5. Assist JKCI staff in seeking research funds and consultancy work;
6. Establish research links, partnerships and collaborations with other institutions and researchers within and outside Tanzania;
7. Establish JKCI Journal where researches will be published locally and to further encourage researchers to publish in peer reviewed international journals;
8. Assist in the development and delivery of advocacy initiatives based on research findings;
9. Develop research infrastructure and coordinate preventive services; and
10. Develops and writes research projects for the Institutes.
