The Directorate perform the following functions: -

1. To conduct clinics for surgical patients;
2. To perform cardiothoracic surgeries;
3. To conduct ward rounds and provide post-operative clinical services;
4. To provide support to students undertaking surgery studies;
5. To undertake research studies and support researchers to conduct research studies;
6. To keep and maintain accurate records of surgeries performed and surgical consumable received, consumed and stocks on hand; and
7. To ensure that clinical guidelines and protocol including prescribing guidelines are developed and implemented.
